I should have posted this yesterday, as yesterday was the first day...and in lieu of yesterday, there is today. 8 lesbian bloggers created this campaign:
This is not only an important issue to the LBGT community, but to the entire population. There were similar arguments (to Prop 8) against women, with regard to voting, and non-white races, with regard to marriage/relationships and simply living life. We cannot afford to slip back into the days of separate but equal--separate but equal is not a state any human deserves to live in.
There are 8 bloggers, and the one posted above is not done so as a bias, but as they all say relatively the same thing. If you're interested in seeing what each of them have to say about the issue, see the links below:

I urge you please, on behalf of Californians, Gays, Lesbians, and Humans alike...NO on Prop 8. Shouldn't we all keep the right to marry for love?
To be honest, I don't see this as an issue about "marrying for love," I see it as an issue of gender equality...if the only reason I can't marry my spouse is because she is another woman - that's sexism, and in states with Equal Rights Ammendments...that's just not consistent with who we are.
ReplyDeleteJust a thought.
Well put, Jul, thank you.
ReplyDeleteProp 8 is certainly not about marrying for love, agreed. When we can't marry who we love (because of said sexism), it is a violation of Equal Rights. To amend the Constitution in order to take away right that are naturally bestowed upon us (and then voted upon & passed in our own state), is unfair, unjust, and un-American.
I am proud to be a Republican who is against big government. Meaning I am against government telling me how to run my life. Meaning my white person, heterosexual, gun slinging, tell you to pray in schools, right to life, life. For anyone who does not see my reflection in their mirror...have a nice big helping of big government. Oh and a slice of civil rights violation pie. It's delicious. What's hypocracy?
